Bubble Japan

Unpopular. Unemployed. 26 years old. Summer. It was supposed to just be a photo editing app. But this app ended up changing my life.

Imagination. Why did God give humans such an ability? Im unemployed. I quit my job on account of my imagination. My head was filled with unrealized ideas born by my imagination. My boss told me I didnt need to come to work anymore. I broke up with my girlfriend. Actually, I got dumped. I was imagining married life with my girlfriend and asked her, "How many kids do you want to have?" It was the second day after we met. After that, she stopped returning my calls.

I cant sleep. I find my iPhone. Surely, this is a divine machine. After God created the world, he brought forth the Three Great Apples. Adam & Eves Apple. Newtons Apple. And Steve Jobs’ Apple. The Apple iPhone is my Ringo Taro. And now, off to exterminate the demons...

Im back to my senses. I was imagining that the iPhone was going off to exterminate the demons. iPhones dont go off to exterminate demons. I stare at the App Store, just like I always do. Rather than going to a convenience store, I prefer the App Store. Same as always. Suddenly an app caught my eye. Bubble Japan? Whats this? I couldnt imagine what it was.

It looks like a photo editing app. I installed it. I started it up. I still couldnt imagine what it was. I loaded a photo. Using red and blue pens, I colored out parts of the photo. Red shows, blue hides. Put the target in the middle, switch. Put the target in the middle, switch. Put the target in the middle, switch…

I run my fingers over the photo. Red and blue. A barbers pole. Red are arteries. Blue are veins. White is...What was white again? White is the white base of Mobile Suit Gundam. Im finished coloring. Now, I think I should tap the execute button. For some reason, I feel like I have to scream "Japan!" when it starts working. I gently tapped the button. Japan!

Thus I witnessed a phenomenon that far outstripped my own imagination. Right before my eyes - a bubbly photo. The original photo was peaking out from behind countless holes. What do the covered parts look like? I wasnt able to contain myself as my imagination gushed forth. As now, pictures without holes were just that; simply pictures without holes.

Were I a man from Tochigi...I would paint Tochigi blue, and its rival Ibaragi in red. I will paint my bright future in vibrant blue. I will paint the memories I long to forget in red. Surely, we humans are meant to lead bubbly lives. Each time I tap the button, the pattern changes. I continue to press the button. Japan! Japan! Japan!

I desire to make a bubblier photo. I want to drown in an ocean of bubbles. Unfortunately, I only have Gundam pictures in my iPhone. Maybe... I wonder if I can use those pictures... I load the photos from my computer to my iPhone... I start the program...I load those photos... Red… Blue… And then... Japan.
My imagination has become the universe.
